It's difficult to explain the impact the Harris family had (the other boys also wrote books) on the homeschooling world in the early 2000s. I was in that community - Christian, homeschooled - and saw the Harris boys give a speech to a standing ovation. Looking back I don't think homeschooling itself is that bad (in some weird ways ahead of its time when it comes to remote learning and critically thinking about school) - but the purity culture definitely had negative effects. It look a very long time to unlearn to think negatively about sexual thoughts.

I recently read that this guy had changed - and I find that really hopeful and interesting. Just that we all change. I'm no longer Christian nor homeschooled, so of course it makes sense that others are also finding their way into different paths.
