I hope you can find groups/advice that can help with this - I'm sure you aren't alone in this struggle. It sounds like you are being really hard on yourself however in terms of looking back - the truth is that no one really knows what this is doing. Maybe if you had been as strict as you wanted your daughter wouldn't have as many friends or opportunities.

I do think videos are creative, and maybe her making/staying in the loop will help her out when it comes to the jobs in the future and being in 'the know'. I know that parents were really worried when their kids got into computers and coding and not playing outside, but now those are people considered to have very valuable skills.

On another note, I was definitely a late bloomer to tech because of my parents (got my first phone when I was 18 when most of my friends had a phone by 14) and I had a hard time getting into social circles because of not having a phone/social media and was left out of invitations.

However, don't want to take away from the seriousness of how addictive apps can be and what it's like to lose someone to a screen, nor do I think we shouldn't question what this is doing to everyone.
